Louisiana-Lone Star Restaurant Night

Y'all. Tonight's food from Lousiana (I left the "i" out on purpose for effect) would make you wanna slap yo' momma. I mean, really. 

Louisiana Top Chefs represented from left: The North Shore, Shreveport, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Alexandria, New Orleans, Lake Charles, and Baton Rouge. 

What a treat!  I have to give a shout out to an old friend from college (Northwestern State University) who not only helped me out with some PR classes, but also helped contribute to the newspaper The Current Sauce, Kelli Miller West.  It has been YEARS since I've seen this lovely lady, but out of the blue a week or so ago, she reached out over Facebook and let me know that she would be representing the Alexandria/Pineville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and Louisiana Culinary Trails at Louisiana-LoneStar Restaurant Night: an evening where chefs from all over Louisiana represent their hometown restaurants and partner up with a local Austin top chef.  I was delighted, to say the least, that some of my favorites would be in attendance.  The event is actually tomorrow night (Tuesday, 10/13)

Tonight was an epic Media Reception for this event where members of the media (bloggers, writers, foodies, etc.) were invited to preview the faire and meet the chefs.  Simply fascinating - as my first event as a "real live food blogger," I was pretty giddy. Especially since one of the chefs was from my hometown and even went to my high school.  Way to make us Vikings proud! 

Even though I am pretty sure I won't be able to make it to any of the restaurants tomorrow evening, I'm really grateful that I got to preview some of the delicious concoctions these talented chefs.  If you don't have plans tomorrow (Tuesday October 13th) - you should definitely check out the lineup and head to one of these amazing restaurants:
